The 2025 Practical Nigerian Content Forum will today launch off with a welcome reception that brings government officials, industry leaders, and energy stakeholders to Yenagoa for four days of discussions on the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The annual gathering, now a major event in the country’s energy calendar, set a clear focus on strengthening local capacity and positioning Nigerian firms for a shifting global energy landscape.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) which hosts the event stated that the 2025 forum would push new strategies to deepen in-country manufacturing, expand indigenous participation in offshore and gas projects, and close skill gaps that still limit local contractors.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Engr Felic Ogbe, had earlier declared that Nigeria can no longer afford to slow down on local content targets as the global industry faces changing investment flows and rising competition.

He noted that improving project delivery, access to finance, and technology transfer remain central to the Board’s 10-year strategic roadmap. He also highlighted the role of local content in national revenue growth and job creation, adding that the next phase of Nigeria’s energy development would require closer collaboration between regulators, operators, and local suppliers as companies invest more in gas processing, modular refining, and renewable projects.

Industry captains, operating companies, service providers and sundry players are expected to use the opening session to call for stable policies, faster contract cycles, and stronger technical partnerships that can help Nigerian firms compete across the value chain.

Oracle Intelligence reports that several operators announced plans to expand local fabrication work and training programs tied to upcoming deepwater and gas projects.

This year’s forum will feature technical sessions on marine logistics, project management, digital tools for local content compliance, and opportunities for local companies in pipeline and LNG development.

The annual conference which is produced by DMG Events features exhibitions from Nigerian manufacturers, service companies, and technology providers.

The event runs through December and is expected to close with a set of policy recommendations aimed at boosting indigenous participation and improving the competitiveness of Nigeria’s supply chain.
