Anthony Olubunmi George, 63, moved to Britain in 1986 and has lived there ever since. However, despite having no criminal record, the Home Office repeatedly rejected his applications to stay.

He also struggled with homelessness and poor health after suffering two strokes in 2019 that left him with mobility and speech issues.

But the tribunal judge finally ruled in his favour this month, stating the poor legal representation he had previously received and the toll the uncertainty had taken on his health.

It was also shared that in 2005, his former solicitors submitted a forged passport stamp without his knowledge, which dragged out his case and left him in limbo for years.

For George, this decision means he can remain in the only country he’s known as home for nearly four decades. However, the case shows the long, difficult battles many people still face with the UK’s immigration system.
