NUPRC issues contract scam alert

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has issued a public disclaimer warning against fraudulent individuals claiming to offer contracts on behalf of the Commission.

According to the regulator, certain unscrupulous persons have been using name-dropping and false information circulated on social media to deceive members of the public. Their objective, the Commission said, is to extort money by promising non-existent contract awards or procurement advantages.

NUPRC emphasized that all its contract and procurement processes are conducted transparently and strictly in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, 2007 and other applicable regulations. The Commission stated that it does not authorize any third party to solicit payments or favors on its behalf.

The regulator cautioned that any individual who engages with intermediaries in an attempt to secure undue advantage within the Commission does so at their own risk.

For verified information on procurement opportunities, the public is advised to visit the official NUPRC website or consult national newspapers where tender notices are formally published.
