Jake Riley Academy hosts government-supported skills training program

Jake Riley Limited, a capacity-building and training organization in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, is hosting a Self-Reliance Fast Skills Training Program at the Jake Riley Academy in Lagos with support from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

The program is part of NCDMB’s ongoing efforts to promote youth empowerment and skills development nationwide. It is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical, market-ready skills that will help them achieve economic self-reliance and contribute to national development. The initiative reflects the shared goal of both organizations to build a skilled workforce capable of supporting local content growth and long-term economic sustainability.

A total of 250 participants are enrolled in the program, which begins with foundation training in business scaling, entrepreneurship, digital skills, and information and communication technology. Participants then move on to specialized technical training based on their interests, including fashion design and garment making, solar panel installation, electrical installation, and digital skills and freelancing. The approach ensures that graduates leave with both technical competence and the business and digital knowledge needed to succeed in today’s economy.

Speaking on the program, the Chief Executive Officer of Jake Riley Limited, Mrs Funmi Ogbue, said the partnership with NCDMB shows the impact that can be achieved when public and private institutions work together. She noted that the academy is focused not only on training young people but also on building a new generation of entrepreneurs and skilled professionals who can drive Nigeria’s economic transformation.

Jake Riley Limited is a member of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria and provides vocational and professional development training. The company is an authorized training partner of the Project Management Institute, the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, and the National Board for Technical Education. With operations in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, the organization has built a strong track record in capacity development and continues to support Nigeria’s local content development objectives.
