Dangote Group is announcing a set of new technical partnerships that support the next phase of its fertilizer expansion in Nigeria and the development of new plants in Ethiopia. These agreements move the Group closer to its long term goal of strengthening regional food security, boosting agricultural productivity, and expanding Africa’s role in the global fertilizer market.

The partnerships will raise urea production capacity in Nigeria from three million metric tons to nine million metric tons a year. The current facility operates two trains with a combined capacity of three million metric tons. The expansion adds four more trains and positions the Group to meet rising demand across Africa and beyond.

In Ethiopia, Dangote Group recently held the groundbreaking for a 2.5 billion dollar fertilizer plant in Gode. The plant is designed to produce three million metric tons of urea annually and reflects the Group’s commitment to food security and industrial growth across the continent.

To deliver world class facilities with strong technology, reliability, and operational efficiency, Dangote Group has signed the following agreements:

Topsoe will supply ammonia technology licensing and full process design packages for six ammonia plants. Four will be built in Nigeria and two in Ethiopia. Topsoe is known globally for advanced ammonia technologies that support efficient and responsible production.

Saipem will provide technology licensing and the complete process design package for urea melt units across the six plants. This includes four units in Nigeria and two in Ethiopia. Saipem brings deep engineering capability and decades of fertilizer expertise.

Thyssenkrupp’s UFT division will supply the granulation technology license and full process design package for granulation units in the six plants. This will help support the production of high quality urea granules for both domestic and export markets.

Engineers India Limited has been appointed as project management consultant and engineering procurement and construction management consultant for the four fertilizer plants being developed by DFFZE in Lekki, Nigeria. Engineers India adds strong experience in large scale industrial engineering and project delivery.
