Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has renewed its commitment to deepening collaboration across the nation’s energy sector as it hosted the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and other industry leaders at the 2025 Nigerian Content Stakeholders’ Retreat in Finima, Bonny Island.

The week-long retreat brought together regulators, senior executives, and local content champions under the theme “Deepening Stakeholders’ Collaboration for Sustainable Economic Development.” NLNG used the event to restate its resolve to build indigenous capacity and drive Nigerian Content beyond regulatory compliance.

Speaking at the Appreciation Night, NLNG Deputy Managing Director, Olakunle Osobu, said the company’s approach to Nigerian Content is anchored on leadership, impact, and long-term value. He explained that NLNG aims to set new industry benchmarks by investing deliberately in local capacity, technology, and enterprises.

“Our journey in Nigerian Content is about creating opportunities, not just meeting thresholds,” Osobu said. “Through close collaboration with NCDMB and our industry partners, we will continue to empower local enterprises and expand participation across the energy value chain.”

NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, praised NLNG for sustaining the retreat as a forum for honest dialogue, cooperation, and shared progress. He said the retreat strengthens work already underway between both organisations, including successful joint initiatives like the Service Level Agreement, Technical Working Group, and staff secondment programme.

Bamidele noted that these projects show how a regulator and an operator can maintain a healthy, productive partnership that benefits the industry and the wider economy. He also commended NLNG for its local content achievements in the Train 7 project and called on the company to deliver on other strategic initiatives that can set new standards for the sector.

The retreat opened with a movie premiere and a community contractors development programme. Other activities included a mini exhibition for Bonny community vendors, a tour of the Train 7 project site, and social and sporting events between NCDMB and NLNG teams. The exhibition gave local entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products and innovations, reinforcing NLNG’s efforts to support local suppliers and strengthen the Bonny Island economy.
