AOW:Energy celebrates record shattering debut in Ghana
- Nigeria-led AFRIPERF Charter tops conference feats

With 25 governments, African Union, Africa Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), international environmental advocacy groups and other multilateral organizations engaging and shaping policies at the 2025 Africa Oil Week in Ghana, the organizers declared relocation of the event from Cape Town, South Africa as phenomenal.
In a post event report sent to Oracle Intelligence, the AOW:Energy team stated that “this year’s edition marked a major milestone for the event and the brand; adding that the resounding success of the event reflects the continued growth and success of African community, “and the strong market confidence in Africa’s upstream and energy sector.”
The Chief Executive Officer of AOW:Energy, Paul Sinclair, declared: “From the opening to the closing moments, the energy in Accra was electric, and the message was clear: Africa is united and ready to lead its own energy future with AOW:Energy as its key partner and platform for growth, an event run by the region and industry, for the region and industry.”
He counted that “our first year in Ghana will be remembered for many defining moments.”
He listed them to include the opening ceremony which was delivered by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, saying that it was a powerful symbol of leadership and vision.
Mr Sinclair also noted the onstage $1.5 billion deal between ENI-led partners and the Government of Ghana, describing it as a clear signal that Ghana and West Africa are emerging as global upstream hotspots.
He also put on record the National Showcases featuring Angola, Namibia, Nigeria, Cameroon, São Tomé and Príncipe, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, South Africa, The Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, and Morocco; saying that it showcased the deep alignment between AOW:Energy and Africa’s regional leadership.
He pointed at the quality of delegates to the event, including high-level executives, ministers, CEOs, financiers, and exploration experts, convening around the shared goal of accelerating upstream development for Africa’s growth.
In providing numbers. The organizers declared that “1,475 delegates collected badges onsite, a record-breaking number that surpassed our Cape Town 2024 attendance, making AOW:Energy 2025 the largest post-COVID edition to date.
“Over 25 governments participated, with record representation from across Africa’s upstream sector.”
The report noted that with over 200 speakers from across industry, the Ghana venue for the event just achieved another record for AOW:Energy.
“The National Showcase Theatre was a tremendous success, featuring dedicated presentations from Morocco, Cameroon, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Namibia, Madagascar, Guinea, Senegal, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, and Kenya, each sharing their national upstream opportunities and ambitions.
“We also extend special recognition to the African Union and APPO for their unwavering support, which helped deliver a truly Pan-African agenda and audience.
“A particular highlight was the Government of Nigeria’s leadership and vision in launching the AFRIPERF Regulators Charter and Association, with over 15 member regulators signed under the guidance of Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive of the NUPRC,” Sinclair declared in briefing notes to attendees.
In presenting the conference as the business and market development platform for Africa, he stated that AOW:Energy 2026 promises to be “a powerful, deal-driven program and expanded exhibition that builds on this year’s momentum.”
In inviting partners to collaborate in making the show greater, Sinclair stated: “Let’s continue to build the Africa we want via our Oil, Gas and Energy potential together!
