Gunmen suspected to be commercial kidnappers have killed some eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in an attack that targeted Chinese expatriates under their protection.
The bandits also kidnapped Chinese workers in the incident which happened in Edo State at the weekend.

The armed group suspected to be kidnappers had launched surprise attack on a convoy of the NSCDC operatives before abducting the foreign workers. The Chinese nationals are said to be working for BUA Cement, according to secondary sources.
NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale is quoted in a report by Reuters that four of kidnapped Chinese workers were rescued while one was still missing.
Incident report by the NSCDC has it that eight operatives from the agency were killed and four were seriously injured.
