Electricity distribution company (DisCo) distribution company in the country, the Ikeja Electric (IE), has appointed Mrs. Ogochukwu Onyelucheya as its Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from July 1, 2026.

The appointment follows the elevation of outgoing CEO, Mrs. Folake Soetan to the parent Sahara Group’s power and upstream energy businesses.

In a statement issued, Saturday, by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kingsley Okotie, Ikeja Electric said the appointment forms part of a planned leadership succession designed to sustain growth, innovation and operational excellence across the organisation.

The company disclosed that Soetan, who has led Ikeja Electric since 2020, will assume wider strategic responsibilities within Sahara Group after overseeing a period of operational transformation at the electricity distribution company.

Commenting, Chairman, Board of Ikeja Electric, Kola Adesina, described Soetan’s tenure as transformative, noting that she played a significant role in strengthening the company’s operational resilience, customer-focused culture and overall business performance.

According to Adesina, her leadership helped position Ikeja Electric for sustainable growth within Nigeria’s rapidly changing electricity sector.

Ikeja Electric Board, while commenting on the managerial changes, also expressed confidence in Onyelucheya’s ability to sustain the company’s growth trajectory, citing her extensive leadership experience in financial management, business transformation and operational strategy.

According to the chairman, the incoming acting CEO possesses the strategic vision and execution capabilities required to build on the achievements recorded under the outgoing leadership while accelerating innovation and customer-centric growth.

Speaking on her new appointment, Onyelucheya pledged to deepen customer trust, improve service delivery and sustain operational performance while creating long-term value for stakeholders.

Ikeja Electric in the statement said Onyelucheya brings more than two decades of executive experience spanning the banking and energy sectors.

“Her professional background includes business strategy, financial management, corporate transformation, process automation, digitisation and revenue assurance initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and financial performance.

“She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, a Master’s degree in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London, and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School,” the company statement read.

On her elevation, Soetan described her years at Ikeja Electric as a privilege, expressing appreciation for the company’s workforce and stakeholders.

She disclosed that her next assignment within the Sahara Group would focus on advancing sustainable and inclusive energy solutions across Africa while supporting the group’s long-term growth strategy.

Ikeja Electric, one of the country’s leading electricity distribution companies, provides electricity to customers across parts of Lagos and Ogun states.
