Nigerdock has marked its 40th anniversary, highlighting four decades of operations in Nigeria’s maritime and industrial sectors and underscoring its role in supporting trade, infrastructure and workforce development.

Speaking on the milestone, Chief Executive Officer Maher Jarmakani said the company’s growth has been driven by sustained investment and operational adaptation.

He noted that Nigerdock has evolved from its early focus on ship repair and fabrication into a regional hub for port operations, logistics support and free zone services, delivering large-scale projects while building local technical capacity.

Established in 1986, Nigerdock has expanded its footprint across key segments including port infrastructure, terminal operations, marine services and industrial real estate.

A major turning point came in 2003 following its acquisition by the Jagal Group, which triggered an expansion program that strengthened its position in Nigeria’s maritime value chain.

The anniversary coincides with the start of operations at Snake Island Port, a flagship development being executed in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The project is expected to enhance port capacity and improve logistics efficiency, supporting Nigeria’s role as a regional trade hub.

Operating from Lagos, Nigerdock runs an integrated port and free zone that connects global markets with West Africa.

The company says it has trained thousands of workers in specialized skills over the years, positioning local talent to meet international industry standards.

Management said the focus going forward will remain on scaling infrastructure, expanding logistics capabilities and supporting broader economic growth, as demand rises for efficient port services and industrial support across the region.
