The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited, Adeleye Falade, has called for deeper security collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force, particularly the Rivers State Command, as operations expand and critical infrastructure projects near completion in the state.

Falade made the remarks in Port Harcourt on Monday during a courtesy visit by the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and senior officers to the NLNG Corporate Head Office.

He praised the Rivers State Police Command for what he described as consistent professionalism and strong operational discipline in securing NLNG facilities and supporting the protection of critical national infrastructure across the state. According to him, the Command has played a key role in safeguarding both personnel and assets linked to the company’s operations.

A central focus of the discussions was security around major infrastructure projects, particularly the Train 7 gas expansion project and the Bonny–Bodo Road corridor. Falade noted that these assets are strategically important not only to NLNG but also to the wider Nigerian economy, and require sustained security coordination as implementation progresses.

He also highlighted the approaching commissioning and opening of the Bonny–Bodo Road, warning that improved access to Bonny Island would significantly change movement patterns in the area. While describing the development as economically positive, he stressed that it also introduces new security considerations that must be proactively managed.

“With increased access to Bonny Island, we need a broader conversation on how to preserve the safety of our people and assets,” Falade said. “As long as our operations remain secure and uninterrupted, the benefits will continue to extend across the state and the nation.”

In response, Adepoju reaffirmed the commitment of the Rivers State Police Command to maintaining close operational cooperation with NLNG. He described the company as a critical pillar of both the state and national economy, and assured that the Command has systems in place to respond quickly to emerging security concerns.

“NLNG remains a pride of Rivers State and a key pillar of Nigeria’s economy,” he said. “Our teams are ready to act promptly on any security concerns, with systems in place for rapid response.”

The meeting underscored the growing emphasis on coordinated security management around strategic energy infrastructure in Rivers State. With large-scale projects such as Train 7 and the Bonny–Bodo Road expected to reshape economic activity and mobility in the region, both parties signaled the need for sustained partnership between private operators and security agencies.

Also present at the meeting was the Deputy Managing Director of NLNG, Olakunle Osobu, alongside other members of the company’s management team.
