The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has declared that registration and submission of applications for Pre-Qualification under the Nigeria 2025 Licensing Round closes at 4.30pm on 27 February 2026.

The commission stated in a media release that the decision to draw the curtains is in accordance with Section 11.2 of the Licensing Round Guidelines.
“All Applicants are advised to ensure full compliance with the stipulated submission requirements within the prescribed timeline,” the lease administrator stated.
Oracle Intelligence reports that federal government has rolled out some 50 oil and gas blocks in the 2025 licensing round, stating that only serious-minded investors with demonstrable financial and operating capacity would be considered for licenses.
Chief Executive of the NUPRC, Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, had made it clear that the decision is to weed out middlemen and equity traders as government concentrates on quick-to-market strategies that deliver assets in the hands of field-ready players.
