Dangote Petroleum Refinery says it will supply one billion five hundred million litres of Premium Motor Spirit each month in December 2025 and January 2026 to ensure steady nationwide fuel availability through the festive season and into the New Year.

Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, announced the plan at the weekend. He said the refinery will make available 50 million litres of petrol daily from December 1, adding that the company has formally notified the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority of the commitment.

He explained that another 1.5 billion litres will be supplied in January, with volumes rising to 1.7 billion litres in February, equal to about 60 million litres per day.

Speaking during a visit by the South-South Development Commission to the refinery and the Dangote Fertiliser complex, Dangote said the refinery is producing between 40 and 45 million litres of PMS daily and has enough stock to support the higher December supply target. He said the output should end long standing claims that domestic refineries lack the capacity to meet national fuel demand.

Dangote noted that the company is in talks with petroleum marketers to improve distribution systems, including wider use of CNG-powered haulage. He stressed that the priority is national supply, not profit, and drew parallels with the Group’s transformation of the cement sector.

He also confirmed progress on the refinery’s expansion plan to reach 1.4 million barrels per day. More than 100,000 workers are expected to take part in the expansion of both the refinery and the fertiliser complex. Dangote said public support remains a major motivation as the Group pursues its long term industrial development goals.

During the visit, the Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission, Usoro Offiong Akpabio, praised Dangote’s role in strengthening energy security and building Nigeria’s industrial base. She described the South-South as the country’s natural energy corridor, with crude reserves, gas infrastructure, maritime assets and emerging industrial clusters. She said deeper collaboration with the Dangote Group could unlock opportunities in product distribution, CNG networks, petrochemicals, agriculture, and job creation.

Akpabio added that the Commission is ready to support state-level policy and regulatory reforms to improve the ease of doing business across the region, especially in gas processing, agro-industrial value chains, renewable energy, logistics and export-driven manufacturing.

In a letter to the NMDPRA, the refinery’s Managing Director, David Bird, reaffirmed readiness to host officials onsite from December 1 to verify and publish daily supply volumes. He asked for the Authority’s support to allow smooth importation of crude, feedstocks and blending components, and to fast track vessel clearance to avoid delays that affect refinery operations and customer deliveries.

Bird said the refinery is prepared to publish daily production and stock figures in print and online to strengthen public transparency.
