The NNPC/Seplat Joint Venture has commissioned and handed over a fully integrated power system and underground cabling network to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board at the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industrial Parks Scheme in Odukpani, Cross River State.

The project marks a major step toward making the park fully operational and able to support the manufacturing and industrial activities envisioned under the NOGAPS initiative.

Senior officials from NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited and NCDMB attended the ceremony, which celebrated the delivery of one of the most advanced power distribution systems built under the scheme.

The system provides the reliable, scalable and uninterrupted power supply needed for the park to host manufacturers, fabricators, service providers and technology companies expected to operate within NOGAPS.

Speaking at the commissioning, SEPNU Managing Director, Mr. Oladotun Isiaka, represented by the General Manager for Corporate Services, Mrs. Emoh Udobong-Ntia, said the project reflects a shared commitment to strengthen Nigeria’s hydrocarbon industry while enabling the long-term vision of NOGAPS. He explained that the power system is not a standalone project but an integrated network that includes a modern switchgear building, nineteen packaged substations, more than 27 kilometres of medium voltage cabling, a SCADA enabled smart control system and synchronized backup generators.

The components were designed to guarantee the uninterrupted operations required for industrial production.

He added that by delivering reliable power, the NNPC/Seplat JV is directly supporting the growth of local capacity and empowering indigenous companies that will use the park as a base for manufacturing and service delivery.

Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Mr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Board’s Manager of Properties, Mr. Taridouye Gagariga, noted that power is the backbone of any industrial ecosystem.

He thanked SEPNU for taking the lead in bringing power to NOGAPS and said the installation moves the park closer to full activation, explaining that the Board’s vision is to create an environment where local manufacturing for the oil and gas sector can thrive, and that stable power is one of the most important enablers of that vision.

He also emphasized that the commissioning marks the beginning of more joint venture efforts needed to fully realize the future NCDMB has planned for the park.

In his closing remarks, NUIMS Chief Upstream Investment Officer, Engr. Seyi Omotuwa, said the new power infrastructure brings the park closer to global industrial standards and will unlock opportunities for local businesses to compete, grow and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported components.

He added that SEPNU’s work demonstrates the type of partnership required to make NOGAPS successful.

With the new integrated power system now in place, NOGAPS Odukpani moves significantly forward in its transition into a functional industrial hub capable of supporting in country manufacturing, technology transfer and sustainable industrial growth.

The Nigerian Oil and Gas Parks Scheme aims to build dedicated industrial parks across the country to strengthen local content, promote indigenous capacity and anchor long term economic development.
