Shell has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and energy development, highlighting over six decades of partnership and progress in the country.
Speaking at the 2025 International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) in Lagos, Marno de Jong, Executive Vice President Nigeria and Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, said the company remains dedicated to advancing the nation’s energy transition and industrial capacity.
“Shell has powered progress in Nigeria for over 60 years through our businesses and social investments. The Final Investment Decisions on Bonga North and HI projects underscore our commitment to the development of the country. Our exhibition tells this story of progress and partnership,” de Jong said.
The 43rd NAPE conference, which opened yesterday, coincides with the association’s 50th anniversary, themed “Revitalising the Nigerian Petroleum Exploration and Production Strategies for Energy Security and Sustainable Development.”
As a Titanium sponsor, Shell is showcasing the breadth of its Nigerian operations through an exhibition featuring Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo), Shell Nigeria Gas, All On, and Daystar Power Limited.
Among visitors to the Shell stand were Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who commended the company’s ongoing investments and innovation.
Abidemi Belgore, Senior Production Geoscientist and Subsurface Integrator, led guests through the exhibition, which highlighted Shell’s work in deep-water exploration, domestic gas supply, renewable energy, and power solutions for small and medium enterprises.
“We’re pleased that our presentations have been well received by visitors,” Belgore said.
The NAPE conference continues this week with technical sessions, panel discussions, and exhibitions focused on driving energy security and sustainable development in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
