Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, has congratulated the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) and Co-Chairman of the NCDMB Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, on his election as President of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

Engr Ogbe also congratulated Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Dr. Philip Mshelbila, on his election as Secretary General of the GECF, describing it as another milestone that reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence on the global gas

Ogbe described the Minister’s election as a well-deserved recognition of his visionary leadership, industry expertise, and commitment to positioning Nigeria as a leading player in the global gas market.

He said that under Ekpo’s leadership, Nigeria had made significant progress in developing its midstream gas infrastructure, expanding domestic gas utilization, and implementing the Decade of Gas Initiative aimed at unlocking gas for national prosperity.

“The Minister’s tireless advocacy for gas as Nigeria’s transition fuel and his unwavering support for policies that enhance investor confidence and deepen value addition clearly distinguished him as a natural choice for this global role,” Ogbe said.

The NCDMB Executive Secretary also congratulated Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), on his election as Secretary General of the GECF, describing it as another milestone that reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence on the global gas stage.

Ogbe highlighted Dr. Mshelbila’s distinguished career in the oil and gas sector, noting that he is a medical doctor by training and a seasoned energy executive with over three decades of experience in the industry.

Before assuming office as NLNG’s Managing Director in 2021, Dr. Mshelbila held several senior positions within Shell Petroleum Development Company and Shell Nigeria Gas, where he led initiatives in gas development, supply chain optimization, and local content enhancement.

“Dr. Mshelbila’s wealth of experience, technical competence, and strong leadership in steering NLNG’s strategic direction have contributed immensely to Nigeria’s reputation as a dependable gas exporter,” Ogbe said.

He added that the dual election of Ekpo and Mshelbila represents a proud moment for Nigeria and all stakeholders in the gas value chain, underscoring the country’s rising profile in global energy governance.

Ogbe reaffirmed NCDMB’s loyalty and partnership under the Minister’s guidance and reiterated the Board’s commitment to advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of strengthening the gas industry and driving sustainable economic growth.

He wished the Minister success in his new role and assured that NCDMB would continue to support him in achieving greater milestones as President of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
