Africa’s leading gender equity advocate and supporter of female-led enterprises in the energy industry, Women In Energy Network (WIEN) has posted significant accomplishments by its members who attained notable milestones.

Executive Secretary, Engr Asanimo Omezi, declared in a statement that the group which advocates greater leadership roles for eminently qualified female professionals in government and corporate organizations is excited at the resilience and tenacity of members who have been recognized by their organizations and industry groups with either honors of greater responsibilities.

It would be recalled that a founding member of WIEN, Mrs Audrey Joe-Ezigbo, was recently promoted from the position of Executive Director to Managing Director of Falcon Corporation Limited, a well diversified player in the domestic gas market.

Also in the latest appointments at the national oil company, WIEN member, Morenike Adewunmi, was named the Chief Relations Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. Her appointment comes at a time the company is repositioning for greater role in delivering a number of government’s economic aspirations in the petroleum industry.

Also promoted recently is Mrs Oyenike Oyedele who is appointed the Chairperson of the Chevron Employees Multipurpose Cooperative Society Microfinance Bank (CEMCS MFB), making her the First Female in the bank’s 13-year history.

WIEN which is led by the President, Mrs Eyono Fatai-Williams, declared that Oyedele’s appointment into the position is historic and significant in the company.

On industry leadership recognitions, WIEN pointed at the recent recognition of Mrs Funmi Ogbue with the Women in Energy Leadership Award by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN).

Mrs Ogbue is the immediate Past President and Co-Founder of WIEN. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of Zigma Limited, a petroleum exploration and production company. Her other company, Jake Riley Limited, offers specialized training for professionals chasing growth ambitions in the industry.

The OGTAN Awards also rolled out the carpet for some of the group’s corporate members including the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited which received the Best Corporate Training Partner award;  Aradel Holdings Plc which received Indigenous Human Capital Development Company Of The Year Award; and First E & P Limited which also received Indigenous Human Capital Development Company Of The Year Award.

Mr Funmi Ogbue and the corporate members of WIEN received their award at the OGTAN Annual Awards & Dinner early in the month.

“WIEN has extended congratulations to some of her members who attained notable milestones this September,” Engr Omezi declared.

She stated that group is proud that its members have not only continued to live out the dreams and purposes of the advocacy goals but have excelled in their fields of endeavor by earning  recognitions that translate to promotions and industry recognitions.
