Two of the front runners in the just concluded 2023 presidential polls, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), have preliminarily rejected the results of the elections, pointing at evidences of rigging.

Both parties have independently asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) review the results with a view of cancelling those that may have been altered.

They also demanded cancellation of the entire exercise as an option.

Director General of the LP, Professor Akin Osuntokun, asked INEC to cancel the entire election and order a fresh poll that would comply with the guidelines of the election process.

Osuntokun, at a press conference on Monday, said the promise by President Muhammadu Buhari to give Nigerians a free and fair election has been torpedoed by the coalition of INEC and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Osuntokun urged the U.S. to prevail on Nigeria to keep to democratic ethos just as it did in 2015 when the then U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, pressured the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan government to do the right thing.

Agents of the PDP, Senator Dino Melaye and Emeka Ihedioha, walked out of the collation centre in Abuja in protest of results  being declared by the INEC.

Melaye and Ihedioha as well as some party agents alleged manipulation of some figures, calling on the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof Mahood Yakubu to review them.

They also insisted the figures from the different States should be uploaded on the server of the commission.

But Yakubu said there would be no review until the process was completed, a development that made Melaye and Ihedioha to walk out of the centre.
