Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has affirmed that submission of technical and commercial bids by prequalified applicants for the 2025 licensing round will end on Friday, June 12.

NUPRC had fixed 4:30 pm of Friday, June 12, 2026 as deadline for the process of bid submissions.

The commission in a post on its official X handle, Tuesday said the closure aligns with the 2025 licensing round guidelines.

“The NUPRC hereby notifies the general public that submission of technical and commercial bids by prequalified applicants for the 2025 Licensing Round closes on Friday, June 12 2026, at 16.30 hours (WAT) in line with the 2025 Licensing Round Guidelines,” the commission said.

A licensing round is a process by which the government grants oil and gas exploration and production rights to companies through a competitive bidding process.

It would be recalled that NUPRC had in December opened bidding for 50 oil and gas blocks, aiming to attract $10 billion in investment.

Out of these 50 blocks, NUPRC explained that 15 are onshore assets, 19 shallow water assets, 15 designated as frontier assets, while one is a deep water asset.

The commission also stated that the 2025 block licensing round would last for approximately six months, noting that it has adopted a two-stage bidding process for the award of the blocks, comprising a qualification stage and a bid stage.

Earlier in February, the NUPRC urged global investors to capitalise on opportunities in Nigeria’s 2025 licensing round.
