The Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence Ntenyin, Dr Solomon Daniel Etuk, has tasked the leadership of Blueway Ocean Foundation to prioritize sustainable development and effective management of marine ecosystems.

The premier royal father gave the charge during a meeting with the foundation’s executives at his palace in Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Blueway Ocean Foundation, a non-governmental organization, aims to educate and sensitize communities about the importance of marine ecosystems, conservation, and sustainable ocean resource management.

Their initiatives include shoreline cleanup, economic development, enhancing the economic landscape of Akwa Ibom State and generating employment opportunities for indigenes in the oil and gas sector.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio commended the foundation for their commitment to economic development in the state, encouraging them to tap into the vast potentials of the blue economy and maritime sector.

He emphasized the importance of developing human capacity, particularly among the youth, and called for sustainable development and effective management of marine ecosystems to unlock substantial employment opportunities.

The royal father urged the foundation to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to drive a transformative turnaround in the marine sector, benefiting the people of Akwa Ibom. He offered royal blessings to the team, expressing admiration for their commitment to growth and development in the state.

The Co-founder of the NGO, Mr. Rehoboth Eno, and Managing Director, Mr. Iniodu Bassey Ndada, led the delegation to pay homage to Oku Ibom Ibibio.

They presented a comprehensive overview of the foundation’s projects and programs, thereby highlighting its commitment to contributing to sustainable development and marine resource conservation in Akwa Ibom and the wider Niger Delta region.
