Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has formally joined the 2023 Presidential race.
Tambuwal who declared his intention to run for the 2023 Presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now joins former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who has earlier this week entered the race, also on the PDP ticket.
The PDP has yet to announce its zoning formula for the presidential ticket, however, the party which has strong base in the southern region is also mindful of thfreat by the socio-political groups in the region, as well as, state governors from the zone who have insisted on region producing the country’s next leader to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing journalists after meeting with State Chairmen of the PDP in Abuja, Thursday, Tambuwal said he considered them as grassroots mobilisers.
While calling for unity among party members ahead of the general elections, Tambuwal noted that the PDP remains the hope of Nigerians.
He said the party is ready to take over power from the ruling APC.
