The incident said to have occurred, early Wednesday, came exactly a week after Governor Matawalle distributed expensive cars, including the American-made Cadillac Escalade brands.

In the latest attack by the terrorists, the students were abducted from their off-campus residence located in the Tsafe town.

Meanwhile, the State Police Command has confirmed the abductions.

Spokesperson of the command, Muhammed Shehu, said troops have been deployed to trail the bandits and rescue the victims unhurt.

Bandit attacks in the North West region, especially those targeting academic institutions are rife.

Last Wednesday, Nigerians knocked the Zamfara Governor, Matawalle, over his decision to present traditional rulers in the state with exotic cars.

Governor Matawalle, Wednesday, distributed 260 cars to traditional rulers in the state, in addition to commissioning the ultra-modern headquarters of the State Council of Ulama.

The distribution was done by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, at Government House, Gusau.

Some of the expensive cars distributed included, American-made Escalade Cadillac.

Matawalle said the gesture was done in recognition of the status of the traditional institution as the custodians of religion and culture and vehicle of cohesion and peace in societies.

However, reacting to the gesture by Matawalle, some Nigerians on Twitter wondered why in a state worst hit by banditry and terrorism attacks, the governor could not make the same donations to security outfits to.

This is also as some others asked where the money for the cars could have come from, since it was not likely to have budgeted for.
