Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has confirmed that former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, is still alive and well.
His clarification came in response to rumors and reports circulating on social media and online platforms claiming that Chief Willie Obiano has recently passed away in a London hospital.
According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo confirmed that he spoke to Chief Willie Obiano to confirm his wellbeing.
The governor enjoined media practitioners to uphold the ethics of journalism by verifying information through official channels before publication.
The spread of unverified death rumor erodes public trust, the statement added.
He urged the public to disregard the trending rumors, saying the former governor “is alive, hale and hearty.”
“Governor Soludo wishes Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuodike) continued strength, peace, and a long, healthy life of fulfilment in his abode.”
