Africa’s leading gender-based advocacy professional support group, Women in Energy Network (WIEN), has recorded significant growth in its membership base as it continues to welcome news members across the past year.
According to updates on new members shared on the group’s community platforms, some eight companies joined the group’s corporate membership category, bringing on board significant 219 new members across the year.
The updates show that total of eight corporate members joined WIEN between January 2024 and September 2025, bringing in 219 employees into the group.
The corporate members include Aradel Holdings which joined the group with 38 members; Tetracore Energy came with 13 members; IBILE Oil & Gas Corporation followed with 22 members; and Telmek Global Resources also joined with five members.
Other corporate members of WIEN include Pan Ocean Newcross Limited which came along with 50 members; NNPC Retail Limited followed with 50 members; Lonadek Global Services entered 22 members; and Tenaris Limited also registered 11 members.
Executive Secretary of WIEN, Engr Asanimo Omezi, told Oracle Intelligence that the goal of the group is to pool every serious career woman in the technical disciplines into the group’s capacity building platforms to share knowledge and experience in order to prime them up for growth opportunities.
“Growth happens by default when preparation meets opportunity. So, the core of our values is capacity that we provide from our pool of collective expertise, our collective experience, or shared membership and the invaluable network that keeps us together,” she pointed out.
She expressed joy at the influx on new members, describing it at capacity expansion and immense contribution to growing pool of knowledge in the group.
“The support base and robust training opportunities that we make available for members ensure that the Nigerian female work force continues to excel in performance, in every role, everywhere and in any industry despite existing challenges,” Engr Asanimo said.
Oracle Intelligence reports that WIEN hosts the top notch of elite professionals and business leaders in the Nigerian energy sector, including corporate captains, employees and several levels of young professionals that are still on the growth ladder.
Apart from strongly advocating deliberate gender balancing in corporate and government leadership levels, as well as equitable workplace opportunities and settings that take cognizance of peculiar needs of women; WIEN primarily provides support base, trainings, mentorship and experience sharing platforms that guarantee success of members in their job roles.
The group also makes invaluable contributions to policy debates in the energy industry, bringing experience and collective outlook into conversations that produce policy propositions for agencies that govern the industry and influence economic decisions in the country.
From scholarships, mentoring programmes and internship opportunities for girls that aspire for careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) based disciplines; WIEN has advanced a formidable platform for promoting gender capacity development for the different sectors of the economy.
At the 2025 OGTAN Human Capacity Development Awards in Lagos on Friday, the Pioneer President of WIEN, Mrs Funmi Ogbue, was named the Women in Energy Leadership of the Year for exceptional contributions in promoting gender inclusion and leadership in oil and gas training.

Mrs Ogbue is the Founder of Jake Riley Limited, which boasts of expertise in competency based training for upstream, midstream and downstream energy industry operations.
In receiving her award at the event which was hosted at the MUSON Center, Lagos, Mrs Ogbue, dedicated it to WIEN and expressed her gratitude to the support and strength she has drawn from the group.
She called on other female business leaders and professionals in the energy industry to join WIEN to undergo unparalleled peer support process that transcends networking to impactful grooming experience.
