Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2023. He was candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 presidential election.
Atiku declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election at the International Conference Centre in Abuja on Wednesday.
He promised to focus on unity, security, economy, education and devolving more resources and powers to the federating units if elected into office.
“We will operate a liberal economy that allows small businesses to grow through lower taxes for small businesses and low-income earners,” he said in a series of tweets.
“Though we all have different lives and goals and desires we all want one future.
“Nigeria is a land of possibility. There is no challenging background that will make any Nigerian give up. I am a living witness to what is possible in Nigeria.
“This time around is different; our journey will not end at the poll; we will get to work and rescue Nigeria. I invite every Nigerian to join me in this mission to save our dear country.
“I have never been this optimistic, and with your support and God’s grace, we will get to the promised land. I know as one, we can rescue Nigeria. I know as one, we can get it done.”
Meanwhile, Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintri, said that Atiku the presidential aspirant under the PDP platform is the most experienced person in the race at the moment.
He stated this in Abuja at the formal declaration by Atiku he said the presidential aspirant represented a unique treasure to Nigeria, and his commitment, unity, growth, and development of Nigeria was a sign of his patriotic aspiration.
Gov. Fintri shared his thoughts on why the Presidential aspirant’s declaration was coming at such an eventful time.
“Perhaps what has kept this aspiration and delaying the victory is for a particular purpose like this moment, when Nigeria will be led by a person of his capacity, understanding, and pedigree to lead the country.
The governor continued by stating the many qualities exhibited by the aspirant through the years. “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is well prepared to lead Nigeria at his most demanding moment. He represents the octopus cloud in thriving businesses around the world.
“He has sold water at the Bank of both river Niger and Benue and built a world-class university in the heart of the most educationally disadvantaged region in Nigeria.
The governor further mentioned Alhaji Atiku’s achievement both in and out of office. “He has created wealth and provided jobs. As a politician, his democratic credential is unequaled, not to mention, he was the vice president of Nigeria.
“As a man of culture, he is the Waziri Adamawa, the second-ranking position in the hierarchy of the Adamawa emirate council. He is a family man; he is a loving husband, a father, and a grandfather.
“Distinguish Nigerians, happy men, and women. I call on you to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for president because he is the right man for the task ahead. He is a good mentor, a leader, and the best candidate that can defeat the APC and win the election for our great party.”
Governor Fintri said the PDP is the best party Nigeria needs at the moment, and the Presidential aspirant would unite and secure the country, salvage the economy and create jobs for the citizens.
